After close to eight years of operation, the volunteer run Youngtown Rock and Roll Museum closed its doors in Omemee on September 27th, 2014 due to time commitments and costs of operation. (Omemee was one of the places Neil Young spent his formative years, and is the inspiration for many of his songs.)

The good news is a smaller commemorative exhibit from the museum has now opened in nearby Lindsay at The Olde Gaol Museum.

Called The New Youngtown Museum Exhibit, it showcases a number of select artifacts and memorabilia that have been enjoyed by thousands of visitors to their former Omemee location.

**For more information and hours of operation, visit the Olde Gaol Museum website or check out the Youngtown Museum Exhibit Facebook page.

Peterborough Writer Tweets His Fury To Future Shop & Best Buy About His Computer

Friday, it was business as usual at Future Shops across Canada with consumers going into the store and making their purchases and such.

Peterborough-based freelance writer Philip Preville was one of them. He took his computer into the Peterborough location Friday for repairs. Saturday, he learned—along with the rest of consumers across Canada—that Future Shops were closing across the country, including Peterborough, which will be converted into a Best Buy.

Now Future Shop, and their parent company Best Buy, obviously knew the plan. But consumers didn't. Logically, Preville wouldn't have brought his computer into the store Friday to be fixed if he had known what was what about to go down.

Preville is self-employed. He relies on his computer to work, to make money. He needs his computer back. Read his tweet exchanges below to Best Buy and Future Shop—it's all so confusing who to even direct tweets to—about being got caught during a massive rebranding...

Now let's hope for a Hollywood ending that Preville can write about it—and tweet about—on his fixed computer Monday morning.

Because customer service is everything for corporations, right?

Future Shop In Peterborough Closing, Best Buy To Open In Its Place

All Future Shops are closing across Canada, consolidating under the Best Buy brand (Future Shop's parent company). The Peterborough store has already closed, with surprised customers showing up on Saturday to the notice on the store doors.

A store spokesperson in Peterborough tells us it will re-open as a Best Buy on April 4th.

***The store will be renovated and rebranded as a Best Buy.

We do not know the status of employees at this time, and whether they retain their jobs under the Best Buy brand. Tip us.
