Peterborough Woman Takes 2010 Subaru Forester For Test Drive But Doesn't Return It

Theft Over Arrest:
On the 27th of April a female attended at the Subaru Dealership on Chemong Road on the pretext of purchasing a vehicle. At 5:20 pm she took a 2010 Subaru Forester for a test drive did not return with the vehicle. At approximately 2:20 am, officers located the vehicle in the area of George and Brock Street. As a result of their investigation, Sylvia Jane McVicker age 44 of no fixed address was arrested and charged with theft over $5,000.00. She was held in custody and will appear in court later this morning.

Developing Story... Ryan Nickle Charged With Assault

[UPDATE TO BELOW POST: Monday, April 25th, 1:15 p.m. Police tell us the officer involved who files the report will not be back to work until Wednesday, and the police report will hopefully be completed by then.]

We have been getting many tips that local NDP candidate David Nickle's son has been charged with assault. We have had it confirmed to PtboCanada today by Sergeant Marc Habgood from Peterborough Lakefield Community Police that Ryan Nickle has been charged with assault causing bodily harm stemming from an incident downtown Peterborough early Friday morning. He "has been charged and released," confirms Habgood. "His charges have been added but the report has not been submitted yet and therefore the release [a daily media release the police send out] has not gone out." We emailed David Nickle this morning for comment, but have not heard back.

Man Gets No Frills After Being Caught With 4 Packages Of Chicken In His Pants

From Peterborough-Lakefield Community Police Service release today...

Theft/Assault Arrest:
On the 2nd of April at approximately 4:50 pm, a Loss Prevention Officer observed the accused in the meat department of the No Frills Store on George Street North. He selected four packages of chicken and placed them down his pants and left the store. The accused was arrested and during this process he punched the Loss Prevention Officer. The accused was held until the police arrived. Jessie Adam Johnson age 31 of Lansdowne Street West was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.00, assault with intent to resist arrest and failing to comply with conditions of a probation order. He was released from custody and will appear in court on the 21st of April.

Thieves Steal $19,000 In Product From Frito Lay Warehouse In Peterborough

Sometime between the 1st and the 5th of April, suspects entered the Frito Lay warehouse located on Rye Street and removed several boxes of assorted Lays/Hostess Potato Chips, Tostitos, Doritos, peanuts, various dips and salsa, valued at approximately $19,000.00. Mother Of Sexual Assault Victim Stabs Man Who Did It With Scissors In Court Yesterday

From a Peterborough-Lakefield Community Police Service today...

Assault With A Weapon:
On the 1st of April at approximately 5:30 pm, a 38-year-old male from Peterborough was to be sentenced on a sexual assault charge.  The Presiding Justice adjourned the case to another date.  The mother of the sexual assault victim in this case, a 38-year-old female from Hastings, was in the court at the time, approached, and stabbed the male using a small pair of scissors from a manicure set.  The female was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, uttering death threats and possession of a dangerous weapon.  The victim was taken to Hospital by ambulance where he was treated and released.  Due to the nature of the court case, the name of the accused will not be released, as it will lead to the identification of her 15-year-old daughter, a sexual assault victim.  The Magnetometer was functioning at the time and the small pair of scissors from the manicure set was not seized, as it was not an item listed on the prohibited list.  The policy concerning these types of items, cosmetic sets, entering the courthouse is presently under review.

Dudes Steal Sony Playstation 3, 3 Packages Of Chicken Weiners And Can Of Frozen Blueberry Juice

Break and Enter Arrests:
On the 20th of March suspects entered an Anson Street apartment through an unlocked door. Once inside they removed a Sony Playstation 3 gaming unit, 5 Playstation games, 3 packages of chicken wieners and a can of frozen blueberry juice. Total value of the theft is estimated at $304.00. As a result of the investigation suspects were identified and on the 28th of March, a 17 year old male was arrested and charged with break and enter and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a probation order. He was released from custody and will appear in court on the 9th of May. On the 29th of March a second suspect, Richard Morrell age 19 of Crystal Drive, was arrested and charged with break and enter. He was released from custody and will appear in court on the 14th of April.

Police Advise Women To Take Caution After Incident At Ecology Park

Indecent Exposure:
On the 22nd of March at approximately 12:40 pm the victim, a 62-year-old female, was walking through Ecology Park located on Ashburnham Drive when she noticed a male in the park exposing himself.
He is described as being white, approximately 20 years old, 5’8”tall, thin build, wearing a grey hoodie, a metallic like windbreaker and grey track pants. Police advise the public, particularly lone women, to exercise caution when walking alone and to report any suspicious incidents or behaviour to Police. Anyone with information is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Breaking News: Charlotte Pantry Was Robbed This Morning (Here Is Picture of Suspect)

[UPDATE: Sunday: 11:26 a.m. *ARREST MADE* Police investigation revealed the same individual was responsible for the robberies at Charlotte Pantry and the First Stop Swap Shop. The accused, Shane WITZELL, age 34 years of Campbellcroft, was arrested on March 25th. The accused has been charged with Robbery and Break, Enter and theft. Witzell was held in custody.]

[UPDATE: Friday: 11:55 a.m.: Police have released Break and Enter Video Surveillance (see below) for the break and enter earlier this a.m. at the First Stop Swap Shop on Charlotte Street. Police say the suspect appears to be the same male from the Robbery at Charlotte Pantry this morning. In both incidents he was seen driving away in a dark 4 door vehicle similar to a Dodge Avenger or a Chevrolet with a spoiler on the rear hood.]

Robbery:
On the 24th of March at approximately 7:00 am a male entered the Charlotte Pantry on Charlotte Street. He approached the female clerk, grabbed her by the back of the neck and demanded money. He left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as being a white male, approximately 5’5” tall, short dark hair, scar on the side of his face, wearing a dark sweater, dark wool toque and faded blue jeans. He was last seen getting into a dark colour vehicle, similar to a 4 door Dodge Avenger. Anyone with information is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service. St. Patty's Was A Very Noisy & Wild Day In The Patch

St. Patrick's Day statistics.

City police conducted RIDE details through out the city from 1 pm on the 17th until 3 am on the 18th of March. In total 1,615 were checked. 1 driver was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. There were no other roadside tests administered.

Police also responded to 16 noise complaints, and several disturbances regarding people fighting. Most of the disturbances were over or parties fled on police arrival. Several people were also arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.

Accident In East City Leads To Criminal Charges & Recovery Of Loaded Handgun

Accident leads to Criminal Charges and the recovery of a loaded handgun:

On March 11th, 2011 at approximately 8:15 pm a single motor vehicle accident occurred on Hunter St E at the intersection of Burnham St. The accident and it's cause is currently under police investigation.

During the course of the investigation a male was seen by witnesses flee from the involved vehicle. There were two other males still at the vehicle, both suffering injuries from the collision. Witnesses alerted police of the fleeing male and the foot prints in the fresh snow were tracked. During the course of the search ammunition and a loaded revolver were recovered. Shortly after the male suspect who had fled the accident was also located and arrested.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested for Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle.

The three involved males were all wearing clothing identifying them as either involved with, or supporters of, the Outlaws Motorcycle Gang.

Charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Breach of a Prohibition Order is 29 year old Mark Cleary of Peterborough. Cleary and co-accused, 36 year old Keith Nolan of Richmond Hill, are also charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm, Occupying a Motor Vehicle with a Firearm present, Possession of a Restricted Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Weapons Dangerous and Possession of a Controlled Substance. They will appear in court via video appearance later this morning in order to begin the process of determining their innocence or guilt.

The third occupant of the Vehicle was transported to PRHC for treatment of his injuries. The police investigation is continuing regarding his involvement and further information will be released when available.
