PTBOPics & Coverage From Seedy Sunday

The 8th Annual Seed Sale and Exchange known as Seedy Sunday took place this past Sunday at George Street United Church.

Organizer Jillian Bishop from Urban Tomato Lady estimates that there were approximately 1,300 people that stopped into this year's event. Tomato seeds were a popular item from booth to booth, with a demand for all sorts of varieties in size and colour, and there were many questions surrounding growing tomato plants on balconies.

One of the revisions they made this year other than extending the hours was moving the seed exchange area into the kitchen to allow for more room for people to shop and trade with others.

Also, Jillian tells us that over $250 was raised for Seeds of Diversity.

Overall, it was a very bustling day as folks gathered what they needed to begin their gardening season. So wonderful to see so many people taking advantage of such a great event sharing the same love of gardening.

You Gotta Eat Here! Book Featuring Reggie's HotGrill & Shish Kabob Hut

Back in 2011, we wrote about the Food Network Canada featuring Reggie's HotGrill and the Shish Kabob Hut on the show You Gotta Eat Here!. Well now the show's host John Catucci has released a new book version of the show, and it spotlights both Peterborough eateries—plus a recipe from each restaurant.

Read about how both restaurants came to be, as well as recipes for the Big Poppa Burger from Reggie's HotGrill, and Chicken Tigania (a tasty stir fry coloured brightly by red paprika) from the Shish Kabob Hut.

You Gotta Eat Here! is $29.99 and is available in hardcover format here in town at Firehouse Gourmet, Chapters, and the Shish Kabob Hut. Online, it's available via Chapters Online, Amazon.ca and in digital versions on the Apple iBookstore and Google Play Bookstore.

Night Kitchen Guest Chef As Peterborough Downtown Farmers' Market Wraps Up Season This Wednesday

It's been another great season for Peterborough Downtown Farmers' Market, but it all comes to an end for the year on Wednesday (October 3rd).

After a successful and fruitful season, the vendors and farmers will be packing up and putting away their tents for another year.

The Night Kitchen will be on hand as the final guest Chef of the season. They will be bringing along their brand new wood fired oven and cooking up samples of their famous pizza using products donated from the market farmers.

So hit up the final market for some pizza, to celebrate the harvest, stock up on your fruits and vegetables, take in all the coffee and perogies you can, get recipe ideas, buy some beautiful fall flowers, buy those gifts and crafts you've been eyeing all season, and to say thanks to all the fabulous vendors and farmers.
