An online initiative is asking locals to fill out a survey to determine the feasibility of a Community Bread Oven for Peterborough. According to the survey intro, the hope is the "outdoor bake oven would build community, provide economic development; education and heritage conservation; alleviation of poverty; promotion of healthy, local eating; preservation of heritage skills and training."

The smell of finger lickin' good barbequed ribs will be filling the air at Millennium Park this weekend for the 9th Annual DBIA Ribfest. There will be many performers taking the stage throughout the weekend, including Kim Doolittle, Jericho's Wall, Rocket 88's, Melissa Payne and The Sadies. For a full list of performers and events at Ribfest, check out the DBIA's Calendar of Events. Ribfest starts today, going from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday noon to 10 p.m.; and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. See you there.

It’s a warm Friday evening and we find ourselves on the patio of Elements with some good friends for dinner. The patio is lively, yet very comfortable with soft lighting and comfortable seating.Lots of local folks gathered at Beavermead Park today to celebrate National Canoe Day. With children's activities, continuous paddling opportunities, a BBQ, displays from the Trent Severn Antique & Classic Boat Association and musical entertainment, there was something for everyone. I was able to participate in the family paddle and enjoyed the calmness of the water while learning about the Canadian Canoe Museum and its history from our guide Barry. —PtboCanada's Julie Morris
